What to avoid: Anything that ends at the widest part of the hip. It cuts the silhouette at the worst possible point and makes everything look shorter and broader than it needs to.

Colour: the three that do everything

Three colours cover almost every situation a wool overcoat needs to handle.

Black: The most formal, the most versatile, the most timeless. Works over everything. Photographs sharp. The only honest downside is that everyone owns one, so it's harder to stand out.
