Size Guide
Getting the size right on an overcoat is straightforward once you know what to measure. This guide covers everything you need, from taking your chest measurement to understanding how our coats are designed to fit over layers.
The one measurement that matters most
For an overcoat, your chest measurement is the primary guide. Everything else — waist, shoulder width, sleeve length, follows from it and is proportioned accordingly in each size.
How to measure your chest: Using a soft tape measure, wrap it around the fullest part of your chest, keeping it level across your back and under your arms. Take the measurement over a shirt or light layer, not over a thick jacket.
Our sizing is direct. If your chest measures 42 inches, order a size 42. There is no need to size up, our coats are cut to comfortably accommodate layers underneath, including suit jackets and thick knitwear.
If you prefer a slimmer, more tailored fit and plan to wear only light layers beneath, you may prefer to size down one.

How our coats are designed to fit
Our overcoats are cut to be worn over indoor layers, a suit jacket, a blazer, a thick knit, or a heavy cardigan. This is how a proper overcoat should fit. It should not be tight across the back when you layer underneath it, and it should allow comfortable movement without pulling at the shoulders.
The shoulder seam is the most important fit point. It should sit cleanly at the edge of your shoulder, not dropping down your arm, and not pulling up toward your neck. If the shoulders fit well, everything else can be adjusted if needed.
Between sizes? Size up. An overcoat that is slightly generous is more comfortable and more versatile than one that is slightly tight, particularly when layering in winter. A larger size can also be taken in by a tailor if needed, which is a straightforward alteration.
Choosing between a regular and trim fit
Our coats are cut in a classic, full fit designed to accommodate layers comfortably. If you prefer a slimmer silhouette, perhaps you tend to wear only a shirt or thin knit underneath, sizing down one gives a more fitted, contemporary look without compromising movement.
If you wear suits regularly and want the coat to sit cleanly over a jacket, stay true to size.
✂ Pockets stitched closed for shipping. All pockets are lightly basting-stitched to keep the coat's shape during transit. Simply snip the thread with scissors or ask your dry cleaner to open them.
Easy exchanges
If your coat arrives and the size is not quite right, we make exchanges as straightforward as possible. You have 30 days from delivery to return your order for a different size, simply follow our returns and exchanges process and let us know what size you need.
