A single breasted overcoat has one row of buttons down the middle. It sits flatter than a double breasted coat, buttons easily over a suit jacket and looks just as good worn open. That is why it is the style most men should own first: it works for the office, the weekend, funerals and weddings without ever looking out of place.

All our single breasted coats are cut from a 70% wool, 25% polyester, 5% cashmere blend and fully lined in satin. Black coats are £150 and camel coats £140, with free tracked UK delivery.

Which one should you pick?

  • For a modern, minimal look: the camel coat with hidden buttons. No buttons on show at all.

Single or double breasted?

Single breasted is more versatile and easier to wear open. Double breasted is warmer and more formal but looks best buttoned. If this is your first good coat, go single breasted. The full comparison is in single breasted vs double breasted.

Sizing, delivery and returns

Check our size guide before you order. UK delivery is free and tracked and usually takes 2 to 3 days, with next day delivery if you order before 1pm. US orders ship free from our US warehouse in 5 to 7 days. You have 30 days to return a coat unworn with the tags on.

Either way works. Button it when it is cold or when you want a smarter look. Wear it open over a suit or casual clothes the rest of the time.

Is a single breasted overcoat formal enough for a funeral or wedding?
